What Measures are Taken to Keep the Groundwater Safe?

During the drilling well program in Beetaloo, the well is built with multiple layers of steel casing and cement. This operating practice restricts the cross-flow between sources of groundwater and fluids in the well, which keeps the groundwater safe.

Doesn’t Fracking Use a Lot of Water?

The main objective is to keep the water level in the region unaffected from fracking activities. To achieve this, water is reused and recycled — careful management of water under a regulated water allocation plan will helps to conserve water. Also, there will not be any  fracking in NT unless a water extraction license is first gained. The license will ensure the extraction of water within the parameters of a sustainable yield for the local aquifer.
